The following entrance examinations are considered for admission at VIT:

B.Des:
VITEEE – A 2.5-hour computer-based test consisting of objective-type multiple-choice questions.

B.Arch:
NATA – National Aptitude Test in Architecture.

The entrance examinations for VIT are conducted at the following locations:

  • VITEEE – Conducted across 32 centres in India, as well as in Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat and Qatar.
  • NATA – Conducted in around 70 cities across India.

VIT was established in the year 1984.

It is a Deemed University.

VIT has its sole campus in Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

The eligibility criteria for the programmes are as follows:

B.Arch:
10+2 with Mathematics as a subject and a minimum of 60% marks. For SC/ST candidates and applicants from Jammu & Kashmir and North-Eastern states, the minimum requirement is 50%.

B.Des:
10+2 with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.

M.Des:
A B.Des degree in a relevant discipline. Admission is based on merit followed by counselling.

The fee for the B.Arch programme is approximately ₹2,88,000 per year.

The University has 23 hostels :

  • 17 hostels for boys which accommodate 13,000 students in single, double, three, four bedded and six bedded rooms. A gym facility is also attached with a well maintained swimming pool
  • The 6 Women’s hostels have rooms for 4,300 students. Women students have access to gym facilities and a swimming pool inside one of these hostel premises

The Institute has a tie-up with the Curtin University, Australia for exchange programs.
